A Perfect Pair Of Pitbulls at Fundy National Park

I got to meet and photograph Axle and Arya in 2021, for my Tails of the Chocolate River book project. Since the book is sold out*, I thought it was a good time to start sharing some of these wonderful dog stories and stunning locations.

(*There may be a couple of copies tucked away somewhere, get in touch if you really want one.)

"Arya (bottom left) is a rescue dog that came from Texas when she was 11 weeks old. She arrived in Canada on a cold February night, and she fit right in as if she was born here. She loves snow, people and other dogs. I had to move my couch away from the window because she would stand straight up on it and pound on the window with her front paws and lick it until visitors reached the house where she could greet them properly.

"Axle (middle) is my son's dog who was rescued from bad circumstances when he was only 3 months old. He was a sad puppy, but he's 5 now and is the biggest, happiest baby I have ever met. He is so focused on me, smart and eager to learn, and he is very loyal to my son who rescued him.

I was a bit wary of pitbulls initially, but after the first night, I fell in love, and now they are my favourite breed! Arya and Axle are best friends, and they love to wrestle every day!”

Axle is posing in front of Dickson Falls, a popular location in the park, accessed by a short, 1 km loop trail. There are a lot of stairs, but also a lot of good excuses to stop and take a photo while catching your breath!

The Point Wolfe Covered Bridge in Fundy National Park is a reminder that the area was once a small community, with houses, a sawmill, and even its own post office! Few traces of that forgotten time are visible now, but at low tide you can still see the remains of old pilings on the beach below. Start Planning Your Pet’s Perfect Session

Tails of the Chocolate River was a fundraising book project that raised over $2500 for the Greater Moncton SPCA (now known as PAW/SBA or People for Animal Wellbeing). In it, I featured dogs in some of the many stunning and interesting locations along the Petitcodiac River and surrounding watershed. I am currently working on my second book, Tails of the Tides, exploring the Bay of Fundy coastline and photographing dogs at high and low tide in scenic locations.
