For as long as I can remember, my life has revolved around caring for companion animals and nurturing the bonds they share with their human families - first as a vet tech, now as a pet photographer. This blog is where I will feature my fave pet photo sessions, share pet tips - including how to take better photos of your own pet, home decor and pet photo display ideas, news, updates, special events, and probably a lot of rambling about dogs and how awesome they are.

What Will People Think If You Hang Large Pet Portraits On Your Walls?
This is something I run into frequently in my work as a pet photographer. People WANT large artwork of their beloved pets to decorate their walls, but they worry, “What will people think?”.
So here’s the truth: SOME people will think you’re crazy.
Speaking About Animal Behaviour At The Prairie Creatives Conference
I truly believe that my success as a pet photographer can be attributed to my understanding of animal behaviour much more than my skill as a photographer.
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone once again and speak in public, at a professional photography conference. I do not enjoy public speaking, but I do enjoy saying “yes” to things that scare me, and seeing where it leads.
“Feral” Barn Buddy to Feline Supermodel
Recently, I was contacted by Dog Bites, a local pet treats company in Salisbury, NB. They were looking for some marketing images for their new line of Cat Cravings treats. I know how tough it can be working with cat models, especially if you try to take them to a different location that they aren’t used to - that’s why I normally do cat sessions in their own homes. We determined that our best bet was to use Shazam! as a model so that I could work on his cat schedule and in his familiar environment. Bonus that he is such a handsome and cool-looking cat, with his different coloured eyes (heterochromia).
PPOC National Image Competition
The Professional Photographers of Canada National Image Competition judging was this past weekend. Now that scores are official, I can finally share my award-winning images from the Eastern Image Competition back in the fall. The Eastern Competition includes all 4 Atlantic Provinces, Quebec, and Ontario, so it is highly competitive.
2024 Pet of the Year - Willow the Havanese
Congratulations to Willow, the winner of my 2024 Pet of the Year contest.
I’ve been honoured to photograph Willow as she grew up, from her first puppy session to her first birthday and her Tails of the World book session on the beach. Since she’s just about the cutest (and sweetest!) dog ever, I thought you might enjoy seeing some highlights from her sessions.
2024 Reflections and Pet of the Year
I know that 2024 was a year of struggle for many, so I almost feel bad saying it, but it was a pretty great year for me.
I got to photograph so many amazing pets and make some wonderful pet lovers very happy, but I guess those things are a given because I have the best job EVER.
Beyond that, I achieved some personal and professional goals and had a few fantastic firsts. One of those highlights was having my first opportunity ever to photograph the Northern Lights, not a common occurrence in Southern New Brunswick! Even more amazing was that I had multiple opportunities to photograph them throughout the year, and I even managed to photograph Jewell, the Ibizan Hound in front of the Aurora Borealis! Definitely a bucket list photo shoot.
Tails Of The World 2024 - Moncton
The Tails of the World 2025 Book is available now for orders! Featuring 16 dogs photographed in Moncton and surrounding areas, the book has raised over $75,000 for pet charities around the world.
2025 PAW-SBA Pet Calendar
The People For Animal Wellbeing’s 2025 Calendar is here, and this year there are 2 options to get your copy. You can pick it up at the shelter (116 Greenock St in Moncton, NB) or at any of their events, OR you can order a deluxe copy to be delivered directly to you! The deluxe version is ring-bound and is printed on a much heavier paper that won’t curl at the edges. All the profits from sales of the calendar go to PAW-SBA, either way!
2024 International Pet Photographer of the Year Awards
The results are in for this year’s International Pet Photographer Awards, and out of 10 images submitted, I received 1 Silver Award, 4 Bronze Distinction, and 5 Bronze. Not too shabby, considering there were over 3000 images submitted!
Photoshop Is Not A Dirty Word
Recently, I was asked to submit a video showing my photo editing process to the Hair of the Dog Academy Edit-Palooza Summit. It was a huge honour to be included alongside 40+ of the biggest names in pet photography, worldwide!
You can watch me edit this photo of Kelley and Declan from Snugapug in Edit-Palooza!
