Mia the Labrador Retriever on the Dobson Trail
The Dobson Trail in Riverview is a 58-km trail that will take you all the way to Fundy National Park! Or, if you're like me, you can just hike the short loop off of Pine Glen Road, which still has plenty of scenic pay-off in river views and picturesque wooden bridges.
The trail is never more beautiful than in the fall, and that’s when I got to photograph Mia, the lovely black Labrador Retriever for my Tails of the Chocolate River book.
Here’s what Mia’s mom told me about her:
"Mia is a purebred black Lab from a wonderful breeder in Bridgewater, N.S. She came into our lives at 7 weeks old and mended our broken hearts following the loss of our first Lab, Bud, who passed away two years earlier, just a few days after his 13th birthday.
"Mia is now 3 years old and she is the sweetest girl. Everyone who meets her will agree. Upon meeting, if you make direct eye contact, she will immediately demand a belly rub [can confirm]. If you have treats, she will be your best friend for life! She enjoys long walks, especially in the woods or at the beach."
"Whether it's laying down in a mud puddle, splashing around in a pool, getting a bath or just a rainy day, she absolutely loves water, in any shape or form. After a long day, she enjoys a good 'Netflix and snuggle' right by our sides. She believes the vacuum is challenging her to a duel, lobsters – dead or alive – are monsters and the nail cutter is a torture device."
Many of my clients have trouble getting good photos of their black or very dark-coloured pets. It almost always requires some additional lighting and post-processing work, and that’s what I’m here for!
